About the Course

Sustainable optimization starts with integrity. This course links asset integrity management (AIM), inspection/maintenance, and operating windows to stable, high-throughput operations. You’ll quantify benefits using OPE/OEE-style KPIs and embed management of change (MOC) so process changes improve—not jeopardize—long-term reliability.
On the optimization front, you’ll apply process control fundamentals, develop simple process models, use heat integration and pinch technology, and tune exchanger trains and utilities for minimum energy per unit throughput.
The energy management track covers standards and programs, benchmarking, incentives, and a structured approach to energy conservation—from opportunity identification and screening to techno-economic evaluation and implementation planning—delivering measurable cost, emissions, and reliability gains.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Explain the drivers, benefits, and strategies of plant optimization and energy conservation.
- Integrate AIM, condition monitoring, and operating windows to maximize availability and reliability.
- Identify and prioritize high-value energy savings in utilities and process units.
- Apply process control, modeling, and simulation to optimize key operating variables.
- Use heat integration, pinch analysis, and exchanger train optimization to reduce energy intensity.
- Build a compliant, business-aligned energy management program and roadmap.
- Perform technical and economic evaluations (CAPEX/OPEX, payback, NPV) of alternatives.
- Reduce interruptions via robust MOC, inspection, and maintenance strategies.
- Track benefits using OPE/OEE and energy KPIs to minimize operating costs.

Who Should Attend

- Process Plant Supervisors and Operations/Production Engineers
- Plant Engineers and Operators
- Maintenance Engineers and Technicians
- Reliability & Energy/Utilities Engineers
- Technical staff focused on refinery/chemical plant profitability and efficiency
