About the Course
This course builds a rigorous decision framework for operations and maintenance by combining proven analytics with hands-on practice. You will move from qualitative judgments to quantitative, value-based choices that balance risk, cost, performance, and stakeholder priorities.
Through real industry cases (including oil & gas), you’ll apply multi-criteria methods (AHP/MCDM), model uncertainty (Decision Trees & Monte Carlo), and connect decisions to reliability tools (FMEA, redundancy strategies) and performance systems (OEE, KPIs).
You will also learn how to translate the voice of the customer into engineering and maintenance actions via the House of Quality, and how to leverage CMMS/ERP/MRP data to transform information into sustained improvements.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Improve productivity using timely, decision-ready information from CMMS/ERP/MRP.
- Diagnose why “good people make bad decisions” and apply guidelines for sound decision analysis.
- Build and analyze Decision Trees; run Monte Carlo simulations to quantify uncertainty and value of information.
- Apply Multi-Criteria Decision-Making (AHP/MCDM) to rank alternatives and allocate resources.
- Conduct optimized failure analyses using FMEA; compute RPNs and prioritize mitigations.
- Model reliability (series/parallel) and evaluate redundancy options aligned with risk and cost.
- Design and track maintenance performance measures; use OEE to drive lean improvements.
- Convert customer/operations needs into engineering requirements with the House of Quality (QFD).
- Develop an action plan that integrates these methods into maintenance strategy and measures benefits.
