About the Course

Startup and commissioning bring concentrated technical and managerial risk. This course provides a structured framework that integrates strategy, organization, planning, and control to execute commissioning safely and efficiently. You will define roles and interfaces, set up the commissioning management plan and budget, and establish traceable deliverables from mechanical completion through performance testing and acceptance.
Special modules focus on machinery/equipment commissioning and the integration of electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems. Participants practice risk assessment, troubleshooting, and problem-solving techniques specific to commissioning conditions, while applying practical tools for schedule logic, progress monitoring, and earned value analysis.
By the end, you’ll be able to navigate the six key stages of commissioning, align multi-disciplinary teams, manage change and uncertainty, and deliver a clean handover to operations with verified documentation and lessons learned.

Objectives

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Define and apply the six key stages of the commissioning process from strategy to acceptance.
- Develop a commissioning management plan, organization, resource plan, and budget.
- Execute mechanical completion and integrity checks with clear MC/IPC dossiers.
- Plan and conduct pre-commissioning, operational/functional testing, and initial startup.
- Address machinery/equipment-specific commissioning issues and preservation/rotation.
- Integrate commissioning of electrical, instrumentation, and utility systems safely.
- Implement progress measurement, cost control, and earned value analysis (EVA).
- Apply risk assessment, HAZOP/LOTO/permit-to-work, and troubleshooting methods.
