About the Course
Leading plants don’t guess—they model. This course shows how to turn failure data into confident decisions about maintenance strategy, crew sizing, spare parts policies, inspection intervals, and the repair/replace threshold. You’ll learn to quantify risk, consequence, and remaining life (via RBI and FFS), then connect those insights to economic levers (downtime cost, OPEX/CAPEX, cash flow) in a practical CMMS-enabled workflow.
Through hands-on exercises, you’ll analyze failure distributions, build risk matrices, optimize PM/PdM mixes, and size inventories and crews for maximum availability. The result is a transparent, defensible playbook that aligns safety objectives with profitability—so your teams act early, spend wisely, and extend asset life.
Objectives
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify dominant failure modes/mechanisms and their impact on reliability and cost.
- Apply FMEA and Weibull analysis (incl. censored/3-parameter fits) to real failure data.
- Quantify the business value of PM/PdM using availability and downtime economics.
- Optimize PM/PdM content, intervals, and inspection scope using RBI principles.
- Perform FFS screening to support run/repair/replace decisions.
- Determine optimal spare parts levels and preservation using demand/risk models.
- Right-size maintenance crews and structure using workload and readiness metrics.
- Build repair/replace financial cases (LCC, NPV, payback, risk sensitivity).
- Integrate decisions into CMMS with KPIs, governance, and continuous improvement.
