About the Course

As equipment and processes become more complex, written procedures are essential for safe, reliable, and compliant work. This course gives you a complete toolkit: needs analysis, policy/standards, and a procedure architecture (sections, layouts, and RASCI) that connects seamlessly to CMMS work orders and job plans.

You’ll practice sourcing and validating content from OEMs, authorities, and SMEs; writing concise, measurable steps and acceptance criteria; and applying readability and human-factors principles so procedures are actually used in the field. Finally, you’ll implement robust control—review/approval workflows, versioning, distribution, and continuous improvement—to keep procedures current and effective.

Learning Milestones

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

- Explain the purpose of documented procedures and documented information.
- Identify safety, environmental, and quality requirements that drive content.
- Design a fit-for-purpose procedure management and governance system.
- Perform user needs analyses and content research (OEMs, SMEs, authorities).
- Write clear, concise steps with correct terminology and quantified limits.
- Apply templates, styles, and tools to improve authoring speed and consistency.
- Link procedures to CMMS assets, job plans, and training materials.
- Control lifecycle: review/approval, versioning, distribution, and access.
- Measure usage/effectiveness and run a periodic update/revision process.
