Pilot Plant Design and Operations Training Course
Sector:
Chemicals & Process – Quality and Scale-Up
Technical Focus Area:
Quality & Technology Transfer
About the Course
This course provides practical training in pilot plant design and operations, covering how pilot facilities are designed and operated to generate reliable data for process scale-up decisions. It is designed for engineers responsible for pilot plant projects.
Participants examine pilot plant design considerations, instrumentation strategy, and data collection practices, building the practical skills needed to run pilot programs that deliver genuinely useful scale-up information. Case examples illustrate pilot plant program design and common pitfalls.
Learning Milestones
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
- Design a pilot plant appropriate for scale-up objectives.
- Specify instrumentation strategy for a pilot facility.
- Design a pilot test program that generates useful data.
- Operate a pilot plant safely and effectively.
- Evaluate pilot data quality and representativeness.
- Coordinate pilot plant programs with scale-up decisions.
