Oil & Gas – Offshore/Terminals

Technical Focus Area:

Offshore & Terminal Operations (OFF)

About the Course

Offshore oil and gas facilities are subject to some of the most extreme service conditions, placing high demands on materials selection, welding practices, and corrosion control. This course delivers a deep technical understanding of these challenges and the engineering solutions required to overcome them.

Advanced Welding and Materials Engineering for Offshore Oil & Gas Facilities is a comprehensive 5-day training designed to upskill engineers and technical professionals working in offshore environments. Participants will gain detailed knowledge of metallurgy, fabrication challenges, corrosion mitigation, material codes, and welding practices related to stainless steels, duplex alloys, nickel alloys, clad materials, and titanium used in subsea and topside applications.

The course includes global engineering standards like NACE, ISO 21457, ASTM, ASME, EEMUA, and NORSOK, integrating theory with practical application to strengthen participants’ ability to make sound material and welding decisions in offshore projects.

Objectives

By the end of the course, participants will be able to:

- Identify and evaluate the materials commonly used in offshore environments.
- Understand key welding issues associated with corrosion-resistant alloys and exotic materials.
- Apply best practices and design standards for welding, fabrication, and material selection.
- Analyze offshore corrosion risks and implement effective mitigation strategies.
- Interpret and apply relevant codes and standards including NACE MR0175/ISO 15156, ISO 21457, EEMUA 194, and NORSOK M001.
