Location
Duration
Online / In-class
1 week

Sector:

Industrial & Energy – Mechanical Systems

Technical Focus Area:

Oil & Gas Operations & Engineering (OG-OPS)

About the Course

This course provides a comprehensive and practical understanding of the application, design, operation, inspection, and failure prevention of process equipment and piping systems used in oil, gas, and petrochemical facilities. It equips engineers and technical professionals with the principles, calculations, and tools required to ensure the mechanical integrity and reliability of piping networks, vessels, tanks, heat exchangers, pumps, and other vital plant systems.

Participants will explore current international standards (e.g., ASME, API), risk-based inspection approaches, condition monitoring, material selection, degradation mechanisms, and failure analysis—all essential for designing safer and more cost-effective facilities.

Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

- Design and evaluate pressure vessels, piping systems, storage tanks, and heat exchangers per major industry codes (ASME, API).
- Apply sound engineering judgment in selecting materials based on application, environment, and degradation mechanisms.
- Identify active damage mechanisms and perform basic fitness-for-service assessments.
- Analyze real-life equipment failures and implement strategies for prevention through better design, operation, and maintenance.
- Develop maintenance strategies and inspection plans, including risk-based and condition-based methods.

Who Should Attend

- Process, Mechanical, and Chemical Engineers
- Project Engineers and Plant Designers
- Maintenance and Operations Engineers
- Inspectors and Technical Supervisors
- Professionals involved in integrity, reliability, and safety of plant equipment
